About Us

    About Godalming Funeral Service

Godalming Funeral Service opened in 2022 to provide funeral directors services in the local area under the guidance of Paul Weightman.

Godalming Funeral Service was established in 2022, when Paul Weightman joined the Funeral Partners Family and work began to restore a former funeral home in Godalming. Over a 40 year career Paul has helped thousands of families, serving his clients and their loved ones with empathy, respect and exemplary standards of care.

Paul is now looking forward to his new role as Senior Funeral Director at Godalming Funeral Service, working across the Guildford (Formerly James & Thomas Funeral Directors) and Godalming Branches.

Paul’s son Anghus Weightman – a respected Funeral Director in his own right – joined Godalming Funeral Service in 2023 to work with his dad.

Here at Godalming Funeral Service we offer an affordable prepaid funeral plan, Choice, so that you can arrange and pay for a funeral in advance. This will protect your family from rising costs and remove uncertainty about your wishes.

If you would like to talk to us about planning a funeral, or our Choice plan, please come and see us in our funeral home, or if you’d rather we can arrange a home visit. We’re also available 24 hours a day on the phone so if you need anything please don’t hesitate to call.

    Meet the Team

    Simon Goff

    Area Development Manager

Having started out as an FSO in the early stages of my career back in 2008 I progressed from FSO, to Funeral Director, completing my NAFD diploma in 2012 with an independent Funeral Directors in Hampshire that became part of the Funeral Partners family in 2021.

Since then, I have gone from Funeral Manager to progress to Area Development Manager for Surrey, looking after 9 branches, helping to ensure the team best serve the families we look after by supporting them and maintaining the Funeral Partners core values. I like to work closely with my team to maintain the highest standards and promoting best practice in the communities we serve.

    Paul Weightman

    Senior Funeral Director

Paul knew he wanted to be a Funeral Director before he left school, with the seed of his plans being planted when he attended his grandfather’s funeral aged 15.

“I was placed at a funeral home on a Youth Training Scheme. This government scheme paid a small salary and provided 13 weeks classroom-based learning and 39 weeks on the job, so to speak.
“At the end of my year’s Youth Training Scheme I was taken on full time by the business, and I took on the managerial role in 1987, at the age of 20.”

Paul attained his Diploma in Funeral Directing and was awarded the Scales award for the highest score in the country at the time.

Since then, Paul has enjoyed a lengthy career in the local area, co-ordinating hundreds of funerals each year, serving his clients and their loved ones with empathy, respect and exemplary standards of care.

    Anghus Weightman

    Funeral Director

Anghus has been around the funeral industry since he was born. He has been conducting funerals since he was a teenager and has looked after hundreds of families over his 14 year career.

“There is huge satisfaction from supporting somebody at their lowest ebb following a bereavement, looking after them and helping them through the other side of the process, making it as easy as possible for the client and their families.’’

He is looking forward to helping bereaved families in the community he has always been a part of.

Anghus lives in Godalming with his wife and young daughter.

    Brian Fish

    Diary Manager

Brian has been involved in the funeral business all his life. His father had a business in Surrey and Brian worked with him for many years. He was a professional referee, and still referees matches at weekends.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his grandson, wife and daughters, visiting Dorset and travelling.
